At one point no chess periodical was complete without a cartoon or two. Chess seemed to always inspire cartoonists, but cartoons became a victim of rising costs and changing tastes. This month we try to recapture a bit of the golden age of chess cartoons with selections from John Sheppard, Don Smith, and George Jartos.
