USA Scores 4.5/10 in World Cup Game 1

The ten US players at the World Cup scored 4.5/10 in round 1, game 1 with three draws and three wins. Winners were GM Varuzhan Akobian, GM Alexander Shabalov and defending champ Gata Kamsky.

With two rounds to go in the World Youth Championship, Samritha Palakollu is in clear first in the Girls Under 8. Tanuj Vasudeva lost in the Under 8 Open  while Jarod Pamatmat drew, keeping him tied for first in the Under 12 Open.

After a triumphant round one, the US Squad scored 12.5/25 in round two of the World Youth Championships in Antalya, Turkey with Getz and Marshall both suffering tough losses on top boards. Eight players still have perfect scores.
