Jennifer's first book, Chess Bitch: Women in the Ultimate Intellectual Sport (Silman James Press, 2005) featured crisp writing, original interviews with players like Judit Polgar and Zhu Chen, and controversial title gave her a lot of media attention, including coverage in Reader's Digest, the New York Times, NPR radio, and Time Out New York. Jennifer's latest book, Play Like a Girl!: Tactics by 9 Queens (Mongoose Press, 2011) features chess puzzles and combinations by top female players around the world. Author royalties go to 9 Queens, a non-profit Jennifer co-founded with Jean Hoffman promote chess especially to girls and women. Watch the video trailer below:
Jennifer also contributed to Marcel Duchamp: The Art of Chess (Spring, 2009). She is a board member of the World Chess Hall of Fame, which relocated from Miami to Saint Louis in September 2011.
Forever in search of new ways to present games, Jennifer created hula-chess and naked chess with Daniel Meirom and roulette-chess with artist and curator Larry List. In 2010, Hulachess was among 125 videos selected from over 23,000 for the first online gallery of the Guggenheim/Youtube Biennial.
Jennifer expanded CLO's offerings with the U.S. Chess Scoop, a chess video series which has featured
interviews with numerous Grandmasters including Gata Kamsky, Hikaru
Nakamura, Ray Robson and Irina Krush. Jennifer also served as a commentator for the US Chess Championships from 2009-2012, held at the Saint Louis Chess Club.
