uschess.org was designed and developed by Hal Bogner and Marty Hirsch of Chess Magnet School, LLC (http://www.chessmagnetschool.com), and Brian Mottershead, an independent web publisher and consultant . Mike Nolan, the USCF's main IT consultant, adapted much of the software used on previous versions of uschess.org to work on the new site. Jennifer Shahade , Francesca "Frankie" Butler, Al Losoff, and numerous other USCF staff, officials, and members provided valuable input and guidance.

The site was developed, and operates, using almost exclusively free and open-source software. In particular, the USCF would like to acknowledge the developers of the Joomla! Content Management System (http://www.joomla.org), which provides the basic framework for the site. uschess.org is based on version 1.0.12 of Joomla! We also acknowledge the phpBB Group (http://www.phpbb.com) for the forum software used on this site. We are using phpBB version 3.0 RC5.

The site is hosted by INebraska.com on a Sun Sunfire server. The software platform includes SunOS, Apache 2.2.2 web server, MySQL 5.0, and PHP 5.2.
