15th Annual Denver Rocky Mountain Chess Camps - June 15-19 (Englewood) - full and half day options - and July 13-15 (Denver).

All abilities and ages. 8:1 Staff-Student ratio. Five 2-day chess camps are also offered throughout the summer and winter break. National Scholastic Chess Foundation Summer Chess Camp, at the Solomon Schechter Upper School, Hartsdale NY. Seven individual weeks from 6/22 to 8/7, weekdays 8:30am to 3:30pm with afterschool care available until 5pm. The NSCF summer camp is available for grades K-9. Directed by FM Sunil Weeramantry, the camp features group lectures and game analysis, opening preparation and endgame technique, structured chess play, and recreational activities. The facility provides a large recreational area with an indoor gym and outdoor field, and air conditioned classrooms. Sibling and multiweek discounts are provided. Half days are also available. Annual Chess Camps held each July. The Karpov Chess School summer chess camp was founded by 7-time World Champion Anatoly Karpov in 2000. The week-long camp is designed for chess players of all strengths and levels of experience, ages 6 to adult, who want to improve their game while enjoying the company of fellow chess enthusiasts. After checking in and orientation on Sunday evening, the chess camp will begin with a simultaneous game with Grandmaster Varuzhan Akobian. On Monday through Friday, campers will have two 60-minutes sessions. During that time, students will be divided into groups of 8-12 members and assigned a supervising teacher who will be responsible for tracking their progress throughout the camp. A rotating instructional schedule allows campers to study with several members of the staff during the week. Each camper will be given chess materials to improve their chess knowledge. Every afternoon, participants will be playing one round of a G/30 tournament. Friday afternoon will be devoted to the award ceremony during which prizes for winners in all competitions will be awarded. Every day, 90 minutes will be devoted to supervised free time or swimming pool activities. This may also include basketball and tennis. Students will be supervised throughout the week by an experienced counseling staff. The Karpov Chess School reserves the right to substitute an instructor with one of equal stature in the unlikely event of a conflict of schedules or illness. Chief Instructor: Grandmaster Varuzhan Akobian, winner of the 2007 World Open, was the 2008-2009 instructor, assisted by FIDE Master Tom Brownscombe.

Four weeks starting on July 6. This camp is running for the last 10 years and attracts best chess players from all over United States as well as from Europe. Every day activities include: 5 hours of chess training with world best coaches, two hours of tennis with professional tennis instructors and soccer matches every night. Rating requirement > 1700. International Chess Academy Summer Chess Camp under IM Sergey Grabuzov and WGM Tatiana Grabuzova management

9 weeks from 6/29 to 8/28/2009, Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 3:00 pm. – half day; or 9 am to 5 pm – full day. We offer 5:1 student – teacher / instructor ratio, prizes and trophies for tournaments and various (including sport!) competitions, camp T-shirts and FUN! Ole Chess Camp with GM Kaidanov, GM Serper & IM Krush: A Premier Chess Camp for Players of all ages - July 19-24, 2009

OleChess offers a week of quality instruction and chess-related activities featuring some of the world’s premiere players and teachers. Chess players of all ages, abilities and experience levels will enjoy a week filled with classes, demonstrations, lectures, tourna­ments and games, games and more games with fellow chess enthusiasts.  Camp opens on Sunday afternoon with check-in between 2 and 4 p.m., followed by an orientation meeting, dinner and an exciting exhibition pitting participants against instructional staff. Monday morning begins with the first round of a G/60 tour­nament that will run through the week. Following the tournament is the first of three daily class sessions in which participants are divided into groups and work with a single supervising teacher. A rotating instructional schedule allows participants to study with a variety of teachers during the camp. Afternoon class sessions are followed by dinner in Stav Hall and special activities. Camp closing ceremonies start at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon with trophies awarded to winners in all competitions. Family and friends are invited to attend.  Princeton College guide ranked St. Olaf’s food #4 nationally.

Special activities include both chess and more varied activities: a movie night, a campfire and recreational opportunities including soccer, softball and basketball keep things active and interesting at OleChess. Other activities include evening chess lectures, quick chess tournaments, a “blitz” tournament, Ole Bughouse Mania and a simultaneous exhibition. New, in 2009: Bowling night for all ages and a dinner theater option for adults.

Intensive Study Option:
For an additional fee, OleChess includes an Intensive Study Option for players rated above 1700 or at least 17 years old. This option is intended for the serious adult student and involves additional instructional periods and lectures along with greater classroom rigor.

Also new in 2009: The camp will host a USCF rated three-round, sections of 6–11 like rated tournament Monday–Wednesday evenings during the week of camp. This tournament will be open to campers as well as non-campers. Visit our website for details and registra­tion information.

Western Invitational Chess Camp. Tucson, Arizona, July 12-16, 2009.
This is the highest rated chess camp in the U.S.! 2008 instructors included GM Shulman, GM Kaidanov, GM Ramirez, IM Altounian, FM Adamson, FM Danny Rensch, FM Larsen. Instructors for 2009 TBD, but will again have at least 2 GM's. Last year top group: Avg: 2075 Second group: 1875; Third Group 1700; Fourth Group 1550. Minimum rating 1500 to be invited. Study chess with the Silver Knights chess coaches!  Our coaching staff includes several National and International Masters.  We have taught tens of thousands of children, including two national champions in 2008.  Campers are broken up into groups by skill level, so we accept anyone from total beginners up through experienced and highly-rated tournament players.  Each camper receives a T-shirt and a tournament-style chess set.  Activities include learning openings, tactics, endgames, studying master games, playing games against fellow students, and analyzing the students' games.  Campers will take breaks for snacks and fresh air every hour, and full-day campers have lunch and recess from 12:00 – 1:00.  For more information or to register, see our website at www.silverknightschess.com.

Wizards Summer Chess Camp - day camps in Springfield, NJ.  6 weeks from 6/29 – 8/7/2009, Mondays through Fridays from 9am to 5:30pm. Summer Chess Academy

The Chess-in-the-Schools Summer Chess Academy will offer Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced chess groups. Your child will be exposed to organized chess instruction and activity based on their individual skill level.  Each Friday, students will participate in a tournament to try out there new skills.
Students will also attend at least one special event per week, such as Grand Master lectures and simuls.
Our Instructors:
International Master, Master and Expert Level Instructors with no more than a 6:1 Student Teacher Ratio.
Location: Classes will be held in the Chess-in-the-Schools headquarters, in a secure building in Midtown Manhattan. Nearby trains include: Amtrak, LIRR, MTA, 1, 2, 3, A, C, E, N, Q, R, V, W

Students who sign-up for all five weeks will receive a free USCF membership and can compete in all of
Chess-in-the-Schools' 2009-2010 tournaments free of charge (20 events minimum) and will also receive 2 hours of private instruction during the following school year.

August 17th-21st Greater Cherry Hill Premiere Chess Camp at the Playdrome. Instructors GM Alexander Stripunsky (2623) and IM Alexander Lenderman (2651) will be instructing players in all aspects of the game. These are 2 of the top twenty players in the country! The camp runs daily from 9-5, and both instructors will be there for all five days. Activities will be varied and lessons in depth to maximize the benefit to all participants. Attendance will be capped at 24 players to make sure everyone gets individual attention. Bowling, billiards, and arcade games are on the premises to unwind during breaks. Bowling and billiards will be greatly discounted for all participants. Food service is on the premises or pack your own lunch.
