The U.S. Class Championships begin Friday in Houston, Texas. The tournament will be held July 18-20 at the luxurious Marriott Hotel Greenspoint.  IM Daniel Fernandez is the top-rated player signed up so far. Fernandez may be particularly hungry for a victory--last year in the Class, he lost a key game against 2007 Champ GM Alejandro Ramirez. Other masters in the top section include 2008 Texas State Champion and current Denker Champ Warren Harper and National Masters Michael Langer, Francisco Guadalupe and Nick Schoonmaker. Click here to see the pre-registered list.

There is still time to sign up for your shot at a piece of the 10,500$ prize fund (70% guaranteed.) Make your hotel reservation by calling 281-875-4000. Click here for complete tournament details and watch CLO for on-site reporting by NTD Franc Guadalupe.
