Westinlead.jpgThe U.S. Open is coming up in Dallas the week of August 2-10. The Westin Park Central Dallas chess room rate (99$ for 1-4 guests) is only guaranteed until Friday, so make your reservation fast. This year's event features four scheduling options and more exciting side events than ever, including the U.S. Open Blitz Championship on August 9 and the Denker Tournament of High School Champions (August 3-5.) Check out a Denker pre-registered list here. Note that this year, the Susan Polgar for Girls (July 27-Aug.1) will be held a week before the U.S. Open in Lubbock, Texas. See the Polgar pre-registered list.

A brand new event

The USCF is thrilled to partner with World Chess Live in debuting the College of Tournament Champions at the 2008 U.S. Open. Generous sponsorship from World Chess Live has guaranteed a 5,000$ prize fund, and there are no entry fees. The six round Swiss will be held from August 2-5 and is an individual championship.
