Reigning Women's World Champion, Grandmaster Alexandra Kosteniuk has confirmed an appearance at the 2009 SuperNationals in Nashville, Tennessee (April 3-5).

Kosteniuk told CLO, "I'm very excited to go to the SuperNationals! I love to see children playing chess. I like to see their emotions, laughs and tears, their spontaneity. Everything that unites chess and kids seems to be so amazing for me. Second, it reminds me of my youth tournaments when I always had such a good time. I can recall how I waited for these tournaments and how excited I was before each one."

Are you as excited as Kosteniuk? If so, register to stay and play at the official website.
The link for the website and registration is www.supernationalsiv.com. As needed the details for the overflow hotel will be announced. In the days ahead we will be announcing more special guests for the April 3-5 weekend.  The schedule of activities will be released soon and then updated as new information becomes available.

Meanwhile, learn more about the newest star to confirm her participation in Nashville in a CLO interview with Jerry Hanken or a December 2008 magazine interview with CLO editor Jennifer Shahade. Kosteniuk also encourages kids preparing for Nashville to check out her website or "Chess is Cool" podcast. Kosteniuk hopes to learn some things of her own in Nashville: "One of my dreams right now is to open a chess academy for young and talented kids. I am always looking for opportunities to meet such kids and their parents, to talk with them and understand what they need and what I can do to help."
